Tobias Delius ( Oxford1964 ) belongs to the avant-garde from Holland

His sonorous sound, his weird musical lines and his musical witty mood are the elements which make any concert of his into a real joyful party.

In 1980 he started to play in Germany (Ruhr region). In 1983-84 he was in Mexico City working with the Cuarteto Mexicano.

From1984 till 2008 Tobias Delius lives in Amsterdam and for he short time he studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory.

Soon he gets involved with the experimental scene of Amsterdam.

In 1990 he gets the Podium prize.

Hij played with Steve Lacy, Louis Moholo`s Viva-la-black, Bill Frisell, Mark Feldman, Clusone Trio , Steve Beresford, Jeb Bishop, Kent Kessler & Hamid Drake, Ray Anderson en Simon Nabatov.

Since 1990 Tobias Delius leads a quartet with Tristan Honsinger (cello), Joe Williamson (double bass ) and Han Bennink (drums). (Recent pictures you can find below).

In February2004 he got the VPRO Boy Edgar award.

Today Tobias is living in Berlin.
